Advanced Leadership Initiative
The Advanced Leadership Initiative is a new pilot program. The goal of the Advanced Leadership Fellowship is to prepare experienced leaders to transition from their primary income-earning years to community and public service for their next years of life. The Fellowship is designed to enhance and leverage the skills of already-accomplished leaders for maximum impact on significant social problems, including those that affect health and welfare, children and the environment. Harvard University Native American Program
While HUNAP has existed in various forms since its inception in 1970 as a program to train Native American leaders in the field of education, only recently has it been designated as one of Harvard's Interfaculty Initiatives. Consistent with the Harvard University charter of 1650 calling for the "education of English and Indian youth," HUNAP has developed partnerships with established faculties at Harvard to build viable programs of research, teaching, and outreach on issues affecting the lives of indigenous peoples. While these scholarly activities are central to the mission of the program and of a great university, HUNAP maintains a strong emphasis on student support and development. Read more
Institute for Quantitative Social Science
The scientific mission of IQSS is: to create, and make widely accessible, statistical and analytical tools for the social and health sciences; and to use these tools for understanding and solving major problems that affect society and the well-being of human populations. The organizational mission is: to foster interdisciplinary, often large-scale, and highly collaborative projects that cannot readily be accomplished within the traditional setting of individual departments; and to build a scientific culture where faculty, students, and staff work side by side, not only to solve their own disciplinary problems, but also to seek out problems in unrelated or applied areas amenable to the same approach.
